However, no sooner you reach the bus stand you are haunted by Pandas offering you abhishek costing Rs. If possible avoid interacting or engaging in conversation with them.

Easier way to reach the temple is a short walk through hanging bridge across the river Narmada. If you have senior citizens in your group strictly avoid taking a boat ride across the river. Have divine blessings of Omkareshwar.. Jai Bholenath. Read more. Do not buy the special ticket and beware of the purohits. We visited Omrakeshwar in december.

Traveled there by road from Mhow and the journey took 2 hours. There are 2 ways to approach the temple - one is by crossing the bridge and the other is by boat. You will have to climb a lot of steps if you approach by river and is not advisable for senior citizens. The temple remains closed from to in the afternoon. I went to Omkareshwar the second time with a little doubt in my mind. It was the second Sunday of Shrawan when devotees throng Shiv temples all over the country.

I was worried about the size of the crowd and the jostling and elbowing involved. The dubious pujaris were all around, pestering the gullible pilgrims and promising quick VIP darshan of the deity. Everyone out to make a fast buck, and shamelessly so,one of the fellows was hilarious,he wanted me to perform abhishek as it was once in a lifetime opportunity. He promptly changed his tune when I told him that had performed the ceremony two years ago on my earlier pilgrimage.

Another one told my mother "Bhagwan aapke bete ko sadbuddhi de"! The temple is less crowded compared to the other jyotirlings, particularly Varanasi and Baidyanath Dhaam, and has a unidirectional flow of pilgrims.

The temple stands on an island in the Narmada river and gets its name from the shape of the island. It is akm drive from Indore on Khandwa road and is 10 km from Mortakka. The view of the river in spate is truly awesome and adds to the spirituality of the place.

The parikrama path is studded with several temples and architectural delights. There is even a temple where a donation of chana dal can absolve you of all your debts.

My personal favorite view is the sight of Omkareshwar Dam and the splitting of the river stream into two around the island and its confluence. RaathiSaab Nagpur, India 49 contributions. Do not pay more on name of VIP entry at per person without any tickets. After darshan of the deity inside the garbh gruha then they will do the rituals for about 15 minutes and will free u.

Make payments after that only. Now u can return by boat while talking a merry go round of Narmada river by an Individual boat at just total rs to From 4 to 10 people. Dont hire a boat when ur at temple. Hire when u get down to the bank of the river where all boats a parked.

I and my family total 8 people visited the sacred place of Shri Omkareshwer Jyotirlinga near Indore around 75 kilometers from Indore I can say this was our best and most Blessed Trip ever.

We had left Indore after having lunch in the afternoon at 2pm and it takes around 2. It was a rainy season so we enjoyed the entire journey as it is very scenic and we felt that we are one with nature.

Shri Omkareshwara is 1 of the 12 Jyotirlingams in India and the History goes like this. This jyotirlingam is located on an island which has the shape of the Sanskrit syllable "AUM" and is surrounded with the waters of River Narmada from all 4 sides. We have 2 bridges which take us towards this holy place. We did our spiritual offerings also called Pooja there which was very nice and the Panditji got this done very nicely although we paid him reasonably for the same.

We normally do lots of expenses on ourselves but when it comes to spend on some spiritual practice at such holy places then lots of people start blaming the pandits or the system there. I believe that it is OK if we give some reasonable money and get the Spiritual Offerings Pooja done at such places as through prayers only we get the true feelings of offering our gratitude to the Almighty and seek Almighty's blessings and we normally visit such places very rarely so we should do the best we can at such places which makes us feel happy.

Normally it is a good practice to meditate at the holy places so my entire family sat in the lobby towards the right of the jyotirlingam and we meditated there for around 30 mins and i started getting beautiful spiritual experiences immediately with Almighty's grace.

This made me feel the power of this sacred place of Shri Omkareshwer Jyotirlingam and made me feel that it is worth visiting again. Kindly note that there may be some pandits there who may try to get more money out from you in the name of spiritual offerings but kindly do not spoil your spiritual mood for these things and do enjoy the True Blessings of this Formless Almighty which i think may help us in our spiritual journey ahead within ourselves.

We did some nice shopping of divine articles which i had to keep in my place of worship in the house and we returned back to Indore soon. No matter which religion we believe into we should strive hard with faith to progress on the Spiritual Path. So if you get a chance to visit this sacred place then do visit Shri Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga for sure and experience the divine bliss present there. Yes, I have mentioned about both the jyotirlingas in my write-up, because, according to the same verse that you quoted : It could be interpreted as — omkaram- omkareshwar which has the amleshwar jyotilinga or as mamleshwar.
